Nike / Doernbecher Freestyle Air Max DN

As part of the Doernbecher Freestyle program, which gives young patients the opportunity to work with our Nike design team, Connor created an Air Max Dn that embodies his life motto: “paso a paso, step by step.” This shoe shares what he loves most and his story of hope, inspired by abstract art patterns and the healing power of music. Circling the upper are music notes from a piano duet Connor wrote with his sister. For those with musical aptitude, the notes align with how you play it—the left shoe is what you play on the left hand, and the right shoe is what you play on the right hand. The design is finished with a metallic gold pattern that Connor sketched on his tablet. Since 2004, Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle Program has raised $40 million for OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital. This special partnership gives young patients the opportunity to work with Nike designers to create their own Nike and Jordan Brand sneakers.
